James Edward Waid

A son of the late Ira Ray and Genevieve Allman Waid, he was born on Oct. 29, 1928 in French Creek, WV. He lived his early years in French Creek (Evergreen Community) and Buckhannon, WV but lived the majority of his life in Harrisonburg. Mr. Waid served in the Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Wetsel Seed Co. after 35 years and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and was a Mason.

On June 4, 1955 he married Sallie Burton Waid, who survives him.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Chester “Chet” J. Waid of Harrisonburg; one daughter, Joan W. Nutt and her husband, Russell of Salem, WV; two grandchildren, Justin A. Nutt of Lost Creek, WV and Joshua W. Nutt of Good Hope WV; three great-grandchildren, Kaleigh E. Nutt, Jacob C. Nutt and Lucas R. Nutt; one brother, Junior Waid and his wife, Mary Ann of Southington, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Waid.

Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Sunday afternoon from the Chapel of the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Woodbine Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Saturday evening at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home.
