He was born on August 14, 1957 in Brooklyn, NY and was the son of the late John Wesley and Claudia Patterson Fletcher.
John moved to Harrisonburg from Newport News 20 plus years ago. He was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed watching classic western movies.
On January 3, 2003, he married Frances Ramona Clarke Fletcher, who preceded him in death on April 27, 2019.
He is survived by two sons, Nathan Clarke and wife, Donnetta, and David Clarke all of Newport News, VA; and three grandchildren, Jayden Riley, Natalie Lewis-Clarke and NaKyla Lewis-Clarke; one sister, Yvonne Fletcher of Newport News, VA; two brothers, Scott Fletcher of Richmond, VA and Ron Fletcher of Virginia; and a host of other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 4:00 pm at First Baptist Church on Broad Street in Harrisonburg.
