Godspeed John. I will miss you. It was a great pleasure working with you in the real estate profession over many years. I always enjoyed talking with you. As a past president of the Shenandoah Valley Athletic Club; I appreciate your support and your dedication as a board member of SVAC.

John helped my wife and me buy our last two homes, but more than that he and Betsy were friends to us both.  John and I played doubles tennis together and won several trophies in our age group in the Daily News Record tournaments.  I regret that in our last match I fell and was unable to continue to play.  I avoided apologizing to John for walking away from what would be our last match.  After winning so often with John, it was hard to face losing and harder to tell my friend that I had to give up. My father worked with John for as long as I can remember, and he was always such a kind and friendly presence when I would see him in the office. He had a natural warmth and welcoming nature that made everyone feel at ease around him. A year or so ago, I ran into John and Betsy at a restaurant in Staunton where I was having lunch with a friend. They joined us at our table and we had the most wonderful time catching up, like no time had passed. John was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. My sincere condolences to Betsy, Thaxton, Kate, and the whole family.

John was a very kind neighbor who always had a friendly greeting for everyone. He will certainly be missed on Ott Street. Wishing peace and condolences to Besty and family.

I have known John Mauzy for over 40 years, as a friend and as a real estate broker with our firm.  John has always been a gentleman and a gentle man.
He was always dependable and thorough with all the tasks he undertook.  John was relied on by many people for his vast knowledge of the real estate business and appraisal services. He was always respected and I cannot think of a person who had an unkind word to say about him.  John will be sorrowfully missed by all who knew him especially our firm.

So sorry to see the sad news about John. He was a good guy and someone I enjoyed seeing and working with in the community over the  years. My thoughts and prayers are with Betsy and the rest of his family.

I was so sad to hear of John's passing!  I worked with him for over 10 years at Funkhouser Real Estate Group, I was an administrative assistant, and he was always having computer questions for me :) and while I was helping him, he would show me pictures of his grandbabies and tell me stories, he was so proud!  I really enjoyed working with John and he will really be missed.  Sending prayers!
