Joyce Avonelle Ross Copley

A daughter of the late Paul and Pearl Adkins Ross, she was born on October 20, 1936 in Wayne, WV. Mrs. Copley graduated from James Madison University and had made her home in Rockingham County for the past 45 years. She retired as office manager at Packaging Corporation after 33 years of service; and was a member of Mt. Valley United Methodist Church.

On July 14, 1955 she married Charles Copley who survives. Also surviving are two sons, David Copley and Wilma of Harrisonburg, Mark Copley and Lori of Bridgewater; seven grandchildren, Laura Bentel, Grant Copley, Matthew Andes, Donna Bishop, Virginia Wilkins, James Price, and Randy Miller; five great-grandchildren; a special sister and best friend, Freda Stefanica of Rittman, OH; four brothers, Paul Doug and JoAnn Ross of Abingdon, VA, Tom and Lynn Ross of Atlanta, GA, Charles and Sheila Ross of Columbus, OH, and Claude Ross and Beverly of Cooper, FL ; a very special aunt, Eileen “Peach” Asbury of Huntington, WV; uncles, Dr. Claude and Ann Adkins of Lewisburg, WV, and Dr. Glen and Dee Dee Adkins of Orlando, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Ross and a sister, Patricia Ross.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am from the Chapel of Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home with Rev.’s Valerie Ritter and Randy Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Members of the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 22nd, at the funeral home.
