

Born December 22, 1929 in Washington, DC, she grew up and lived most of her life in Northern Virginia. She retired and moved to Wilson, NC in June of 1991. During her retirement she did volunteer work for home delivered meals, and Rockingham Memorial Hospital, now Sentara. She was a member of The Wilson Evening Lions Club and the Broadway, VA Lions Club. The great love of her life was spending time with her grandchildren and doing volunteer work to help others.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, George W. Land; daughters, Cornelia Marshall and husband, Randy, Adele Durost and husband, Dennis; a son, Stephen T. Land; five grandchildren, Stephen Stiles, Jesse Durost, and wife, Chandra, Dara Durost, and husband, Trek, Julia Simmons, and husband, Matt, Timothy Land; and one great-grandson, Landon Simmons.
Memorial services will be held, Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Her body will be cremated. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
