Leonard Bruce Gray, 71, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Charlottesville Health & Rehabilitation Center. Bruce preferred to be called by his middle name. He was born February 2, 1955, in Groton, Connecticut and was the son of the late Wallace B. and Hazel E. (Adams) Gray.
Bruce served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era. He had several jobs over the years but worked longest at and retired from his last job as an office clerk for Rockingham County.
Bruce had a deep love for computers, Dungeons and Dragons, and science fiction/fantasy. He was well known in the gaming community. He started a Star Trek revival fan club, which was how he met Sandra K. Dennis. They married on August 27, 1978.
Bruce is survived by his wife Sandra, daughter, Amanda L. Gray, brother-in-law, Lewis A. Dennis, and cat, Midnight.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the American Diabetes Association or another charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held at Lindsey Funeral Homes & Crematory in Harrisonburg on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A graveside service will take place at Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Paul Collins officiating. A memorial gathering will be held at a future date.
