A son of the late James Paul and Mary Elizabeth Goodrich Grove, he was born on December 18, 1921 in Williamsport, PA.
At an early age, Lloyd worked on the family farm with his parents before joining the U. S. Army during World War II. He served in the South Pacific taking care of wounded soldiers, and earned a bronze service star and five medals.
He retired as Maintenance Director from the Boarding Academy in Tranquility, NJ in 1986 after many years of dedicated service.
Mr. Grove was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in New Market, VA and a member of the Tranquility, NJ and New Market, VA rescue squads.
On September 13, 1942 he married his beloved sweetheart, the former Melba Eunice Weston, who survives. They were happily married for 76 years.
Also surviving are two daughters, Diane Burishkin, of Candler, NC; Denice Grove, of New Market, VA; one son, Gayle Grove, of Loma Linda, CA; three grandchildren; one brother, Homer Grove of Orlando, FL; and two sisters, Helen Maneval, of Silver Spring, MD; and Harriet Stimpson, of Orlando, FL.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Monroe, Kenneth and Kermit Grove, one sister, Evelyn Grove, and a grandson, Stephen Grove.
A memorial service for Mr. Grove will be held at New Market Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM.
A private graveside service will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens the next morning.
