Lucille Joyce Hamilton

A daughter of the late Fred and Bertha Williston, she was born on Sept. 7, 1920 in Kent, Ohio where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. Mrs. Hamilton lived the majority of her life in Mt. Crawford and raised many foster children in her home. She was a member of Valley Church of Christ.

On Sept. 21, 1940 she married Harry Stout Hamilton who preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1992. Lucille was also preceded in death by a son, James “ Jim” A. Hamilton, on December 11, 2005.

She is survived by three daughters, Susan L. Hamilton of Weyers Cave, Sandra K. Fishel and Linda S. Ludholtz, both of Mt. Crawford, and three sons, William “Bill” H. Hamilton of Weyers Cave, John S. Hamilton and Ray A. Hamilton, both of Harrisonburg. Lucille was also blessed to have 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening, Nov. 20th, at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon, Nov. 21st, at the Valley Church of Christ with the Rev. Larry Danner officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Church of Christ, 1570 Virginia Ave., Harrisonburg, VA 22802.
