She was born on February 16, 1942, in Culpeper and was the son of the late Robert A. and Vera M. (Woodworth) Dovel.
Mrs. Wadford graduated from Turner Ashby High School in 1960 and JMU in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in English. She was of the Methodist faith, and she loved to watch all types of sports and was a history buff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Lamarr Wadford; a son, Michael S. Wadford and a sister, Mickey Dovel.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence A. Wadford and wife, Julie, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and David Wadford of Harrisonburg; one daughter, Heidi Fukushima of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; one sister and three brothers; numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11 am, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Woodbine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, prayers for the family will be accepted.
