Mark Neff Lehman, loving husband and father of four children, passed away in Harrisonburg, VA on July 15, 2026, just short of his 96th birthday, July 16, 1930. He was the son of the late Daniel W. and Ada Neff Lehman. On September 27, 1952 he married Pauline Peachey who died in 2017.
Mark graduated from Eastern Mennonite School in 1947 and from Eastern Mennonite College in 1952. As a young man he was asked to teach Sunday School for a group of young teens, a calling which developed by God’s grace into a lifetime of service as a minister of the Gospel of Christ. Mark and Pauline served at Rehoboth Mennonite Church, Pembroke IL for most of their ministry years but also at Science Ridge Mennonite Church, Sterling IL and Living Waters Prison Ministries, Harrisonburg VA. Mark enjoyed music, gardening, hunting and fishing.
Mark is survived by his children, Michael Lehman and wife, Karen, of Washington Utah, Christine van den Assem and husband, Antoine, of Edelsfeld Germany, David Lehman and wife, Lavonne of Harrisonburg Va, son-in-law, Steve Hostetter, of Harrisonburg VA; grandchildren, Ashley Lee (Ben), Amy Yun (Mike), Chad Lehman (Catherine), Jonathan van den Assem (Bekki), Mark van den Assem (Amity), Shekinah Fuchs (Hans), Pauline Schweiger (Martin), Anthony van den Assem, Peter Lehman (Kim), Renee Moyer (Sam), Jessica Arey (Andy), Malia Cobb (Brandon); 23 great grandchildren; brother, James Lehman and wife, Connie of Harrisonburg VA.
In addition to his wife, Pauline, Mark was preceded in death by his daughter, Maria Hostetter, two brothers, Harold D. Lehman and J. Paul Lehman, one sister, Elsie E. Lehman and daughter in law, Sharon Lehman.
Services for Mark will be held at Immanuel Mennonite Church, Harrisonburg VA, October 24, 2026, 2 p.m. with reception to follow. The family will receive guests beginning at 1 p.m. A private burial will happen earlier that day.
