She was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on March 30, 1929, and was the daughter of the late John George Faust and Mary Jane Sindorf Faust.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Calvin Jon Train, and brothers George Arthur Faust and Norman Craig Faust, and a sister, Sara Clarissa Rhea.
She is survived by her son, Jonathan “Jay” George Train of Bristow, Virginia, her daughter Jennifer Jane Bridges and husband Larry Wayne Bridges of Harrisonburg, Virginia, a grandson, Kevin Dean Bridges of Arlington, Virginia, a granddaughter, Melanie Jane Bridges of Charlotte, North Carolina, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Train was raised in Pennsylvania, and came to the Washington, DC area at the age of 19. She worked for the federal government as a secretary and then was a homemaker while raising her children. Later she returned to work at AAA, once again using her secretarial skills and learning data entry. She had been a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Springfield, Virginia since 1961, having taught children’s Sunday school for 33 years. She was an amazing seamstress, avid bowler, and remained active in water aerobics until the pandemic made that inaccessible. She will be remembered by many for her warm, loving spirit, her welcoming gift of hospitality, and her lifelong “greeting card ministry.” She will also be remembered for her steadfast love of her family and friends, and also for her tremendous love of animals, especially dogs.
As per her wishes, the body will be cremated, with a private family burial to be held at a later date.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Mrs. Train on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 5312 Backlick Road, Springfield, Virginia, 22151, with the Reverend J.W. Park officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, or to the SPCA or an animal rescue or animal service organization of your choice.
