Marvin "Rusty" Everett Raines

He was born on August 11, 1933 and was the son of the late Howard and Sally Rosson Raines.

Rusty lived his early life in the Rocky Bar and McGaheysville areas and graduated from Port Republic High School and Temple University. He also had lived in Manassas, VA, Florida, and most recently in Harrisonburg for the past 12 years. He was an Airborne Paratrooper while serving in the US Army. He was a retired accountant and worked for numerous hospitals, most recently in Washington, DC. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. #450, AM Vets, and VFW #632.

Rusty enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins and Harrisonburg Turks; traveling throughout the country and the world; and he had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger.

Rusty is survived by his wife, Shirley Clatterbuck Raines of Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends 7-8:00 PM, Sunday evening, August 7, 2011 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, August 8, at the Chapel of the funeral home, with Pastor Richard Early officiating. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
