Matthew Jason Murphy

He was born on February 9, 1996 in Harrisonburg and was the son of E. Thomas Murphy, III and Jackie Correll Murphy of Harrisonburg.

Jason was a 2014 graduate of Harrisonburg High School and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was a gifted artist who enjoyed music and spending time at the beach.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Blane T. Murphy of Harrisonburg; maternal grandparents, James Willard and Earline Correll of Wytheville, VA; paternal grandparents, Dr. E. Thomas Murphy, Jr. and Dreanna Murphy of Harrisonburg; one aunt, Lorrie M. Murphy of Strasburg; an uncle, J. Foster Murphy and wife, Michelle M. of Lexington; and three cousins, Kaitlyn Murphy, Foster Murphy, Jr. and Brenna Murphy.

Jason will be cremated and a memorial service will be held 11:00 am, on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Asbury United Methodist Church with Dr. E. Thomas Murphy, Jr. and Rev. Dr. Stephen Hay officiating.

Following the service friends are invited to the church social hall to celebrate Jason’s life and art.
