He was born on February 6, 1951 in Harrisonburg to Catherine Virginia Barber of Harrisonburg and the late Matthew J. Barber.
Pops is survived by six children, Pandorria Varner, Amanda Shifflett, Matthew Fields, William Madden, Shafton “Willie” Goodwin and Claude Watson and wife, Amanda; numerous grandchildren; five sisters, Jackie Strother, Etta Byrd & husband, Wilmer, Lonnie Simmons, Felicia Holly, Gwen Rivers and husband Johnny; one brother, Godwin Barber and wife, Christy.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Morgan.
Friends may visit at the home of his mother, Catherine, 145 Lewis St., Apt. A, Harrisonburg, at any time.
He will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, September 1, 2014 at the Chapel of the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with the Bishop T. E. Payne, Sr. officiating.
