Obituary of Nancy Bocock Werner
Nancy Bocock Werner, of Harrisonburg, died at her home on Friday, June 14, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 25, 1940 in Greenville, VA. She is the daughter of the late Murl Bocock Drury and J. Thomas Bocock. She grew up in Harrisonburg and graduated from Harrisonburg High School – Class of 1957. She was a former member of The First Presbyterian Church. Nancy married Charles S. Werner on June 26, 1958. Together, they owned and operated Werner Country Store in Mt. Solon. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2007. She is survived by their two sons Charles L. (wife Judy) of Charlottesville, and David L. (wife Jacqueline) of Keezletown. She has six grandchildren (Zackary, Joshua, Erin, and Jamie Werner, Tyler Croson and Nicholas Werner) and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Alice Humes, and Maxine Wright, both of Harrisonburg, a brother, Calvin Bocock, of Ohio, and step brother, William Drury, of Winchester, VA. She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Two brothers, John and Jack Bocock, and one sister, Isabelle Thompson, preceded her in death. Nancy was a gifted crafter and a talented seamstress. Whether quilting an heirloom, making or altering clothes, or creating one-of-a-kind Santas, she enjoyed her needle working and they are treasures to be cherished. She was an avid UVA Basketball fan and a fun participant at auctions. Most of all, she loved her time spent with family and friends. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Nancy’s life at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends from 5-6 pm, Thursday, June 20, 2019. The casket will be closed. A funeral service will follow at 6 pm, with Rev. Dr. Jon Heeringa officiating. A graveside service will be private.
