Obituary of Olson Andrew Davis
Olson Andrew Davis, 88, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Life Care Center of New Market. He was born in Rockingham County on February 3, 1930 and was the son of Russell and Ruth Andrews Davis. Olson was a lifelong resident of Rockingham County and served in the US Army. He was a graduate of Mt. Clinton High School and was a distributer for the Washington Post for 30 plus years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed going to auctions. On June 30, 1956 he married Kathleen Carrier Davis, who survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Kathy A. Handley and husband, Tom, of Richmond, Brenda K. Gatewood of Bridgewater; a son Harold D. Sanders, Sr. and wife, Joyce, of Harrisonburg; his grandsons, Harold D. Sanders, Jr. and wife, Caroline, of Harrisonburg, and Randy Nelson Lee Gatewood of Bridgewater; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Barbara Kite; sons-in-law, Robert N. Gatewood, David Hyden and Eugene Ritchie; his sisters, Irene Davis and Nancy Lee Whitmer; and his brothers, Charlie G. Davis and Robert “Bobby” Davis.
