

A daughter of the late Harry L. and Pauline Rhodes Carter, she was born, June 25, 1935, in Harrisonburg, where she lived her entire life.
Mrs. Brown had formerly worked in the bakery department at Woolworth’s. She also worked as a custodian at JMU, and was a CNA and therapy assistant at Camelot Health and Rehabilitation Center until her retirement in 1994 due to her health.
She was a member of First Baptist Church on Broad Street, where she was a Deaconess and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir.
On December 6, 1951, she married Eugene A. “Beep” Brown who died March 18, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Harry Brown Sr. and Kim J. Brown and wife, Amanda of Harrisonburg; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Edith V. Nickens of Harrisonburg; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by two sons, Eugene M. Brown and Perry T. Brown; and five brothers, Elon Rhodes, Charles Carter, Dennis Carter, Allen Rhodes, and Harry Carter
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Chapel of Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Tony Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
Members of the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
