Ray Johnson Shaver

Mr. Shaver was born July 28, 1917 in Fort Seybert, WV and was the son of the late John C. and Minnie Hartman Shaver.

After working for VDOT for 30 years, he retired and then was employed by Bill Neff.

On July 20, 1940, he married the late Carrie Lee Bazzle who passed away on May 8, 1993.

He is survived by four daughters, Mary Clark and husband, Bobby, of Middletown, Pat Waggy and husband, Earl, of Bridgewater, Shirley Baker and husband, Charles, and Nancy Callahan and husband, Carl, both of Harrisonburg; one son, John Shaver and wife, Joann, of Harrisonburg; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was the last surviving member of his family and was preceded in death by a son, Donnie, three brothers and two sisters.

The family will receive friends 6-8:00 PM, Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, May 27, at Fellowship United Methodist Church with Rev. Eugene Shaver and Lane Turner officiating. Burial will be at Lacey Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations are given to a charity of choice.
