Share a memory of “Dusty”? Too many memories to share. Such a wonderful, God loving man with a heart of gold! One of my biggest supporters in singing contests, a true friend outside of radio. My most precious memories are from my wedding when “Dusty” seamlessly DJ’d our perfect wedding reception. It was so much fun - thanks to him! I was so sorry to hear of his decline in health and then of his passing. Many condolences sent to all of this wonderful man’s Family!

Bob and I attended Turner Ashby and he was voted the most talented boy in our class.
Once I Was at his home and he had set up a mock radio control
room using bicycle handlebars as a mike boom.
We were at FT Jackson SC for basic at the same time but in different units.
Bob and I worked together at WHBG on two occasions and in
1989 I hired him to work for WKCY and told him he would replace me which he did soon after.
In my years of broadcasting I never knew anyone to be more
dedicated to or in love with radio. Bob could hit the post better
than anyone!
Some months back he called to console me on the loss of my wife.
He had lost his wife about a year prior and wanted to comfort
an old friend. That's the kind of man he was.
Bob was a Christian and not afraid to share his faith.
While confronting trying times Bob never gave up.
You are missed by many but what a wonderful future you have!
Thanks for the memories!

I knew Bob (Dusty) for many years, and our careers in radio had us across town from each other, and at some of the same stations, but at different times. We never worked at the same station at the same time, but I had great respect for Bob as a professional and highly regarded broadcaster. He was also a fine man, extremely well thought of by his co-workers and his audience. He will truly be missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

I fondly remember Dusty (Bob) Long as one of my best friends in high school. Almost ever weekend I would go to his home where he had created a complete radio station with a plywood console, turntable, and a microphone hanging from the ceiling in his bedroom. I did all of the weather reports and he handled everything else. What a great time and precious memories with my friend Bob Long.
