

Daughter of the late Daniel W. and Bertha Lowery McClendon, she was born on February 25, 1920 in Wilsall, Montana. She grew up in Tompkinsville, Kentucky where she graduated from high school. She attended Western Kentucky State Teachers College in Bowling Green, Kentucky for two years.
In 1941 she entered nurses training at Norton Memorial Infirmary in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated in 1944. She served as 2nd Lt. in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II.
She married Harold Douglas Lee on November 12, 1945 and they enjoyed a wonderful loving 43 years together. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1989.
She worked in the critical care unit at Fairfax Hospital for 18 years and retired in the early 1980’s.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee moved to Harrisonburg in 1983 and were active members of the Harrisonburg Baptist Church. She was involved in various committees including Kitchen Bag Lunch and the Prayer Group. She was also an active member of the Keen Ager Sunday School Class and the XYZ Club.
Mrs. Lee was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Life Seekers and a former member of the American Nurses Association.
Surviving are two children, Byron Daniel “Dan” Lee, of Dayton, Linda Lee, of New York City, NY, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
