Stanley Harris Gray was born over 100 years ago on March 10, 1924 in Tallahassee, FL. It is with deep sorrow that we announce his passing on August 11, 2024 in Harrisonburg, VA after a long life filled with friends and family. He was the last of Joe Henry and Permelia Gray’s six children. Stanley was a loving husband to Josephine Lackey Gray who passed away in 2008. He is survived by four children and their spouses, Stanley and Judy Gray of Harrisonburg VA; John and Roni Gray of Johnson City, TN; Katie Gray and Mike Chaney of Marietta, SC and Maggie and Lew Harmon of Charlottesville, VA.
Stanley brought love and joy to everyone he met, especially to his large family of five grandchildren Jennifer Vance, Christopher Gray, David Gray, Katherine Shabazian and Megan Barnes; and four great grandchildren, Erin Clagg, Josie and Ellie Barnes and Leni Shabazian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stanley served as a U.S. Army Air Cadet during World War II, then attended Georgia Tech where he graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He enjoyed a life-long career with Dupont, retiring to live in Waynesboro, VA in 1982.
The funeral will be a private ceremony, remembering Stanley in the presence of close family.
