

Helen Marie Gibson Baker age 87 of Harrogate passed away June 20, 2021. She was born April 6, 1934 to the late Reubin and Catherine Gibson of Speedwell. Also preceding her in death were brothers Floyd and Herbert Gibson of Speedwell. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Billy Baker of Harrogate, daughter Judy (Dennis) Edwards of Harrogate, son Paul (Judy) Baker of Cleveland, Tennessee, sister Mary Bolton and brother Earl Gibson of Speedwell. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Terry (Jessica) Baker of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Bradley (Nyela) Edwards of Johnson City, Matthew (Jennifer) Baker of Cleveland, Tennessee and Caitlin (Cody) Hoskins of Harrogate, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was a long time member of Pump Springs Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She loved the Lord and authored a book celebrating His abundant grace. She retired from H. Y. Livesay Middle School where she worked as a teacher’s aide. She gardened and was a talented painter, a hobby she loved.
Visitation will be Friday, June 25 from 11:00 until 1:00 with funeral immediately following at the funeral home. Burial will be in Shoffner Cemetery in Harrogate.
Officiants will be Chad Burdette and Dr.John Ditty, Jr. Music by Joe and Vicki Hale.
Pall bearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.
The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers that have come along side to help with her care and companionship. In her words, they were her angels.
