I was so sorry to hear of Janet's passing. It had been many years since I last saw her. We were childhood friends until I moved to Iowa my sophomore year of high school. I remember going to the Peter's house for over nights and slumber parties. One of my favorite memories, was going to see Donny Osmond in Knoxville, with Janet and Cheri. She really was one of my favorite childhood friends! Thoughts and prayers are with your family.

What a treasure, what a friend. I have way to many memories of this wonderful lady to even begin to write here. Her kindness and love for others showed in every aspect of her life. I will never forget the day that she called me when she was teaching and our Jessica had decided to "teach" the class in song and dance!! Jan was laughing because Jessica knew Jan and I were friends and she thought she could "talk" her way out of trouble. Jessica loved her as much as I did. Our daughter Stephanie not only respected her, but loved her for always wanting the very best for all the kids in the county. I will miss her so very much, but I know I have the promise of seeing her again. God bless you all, and thank you for sharing this lovely lady with all of us.

*Warning long post* I never had the opportunity to have Jan in school. However, I did have the opportunity to get to know her while I was Co-Principal at TNT Primary School. She always had a smile on her face and spoke to me no matter what was going on. She spoke to me when others wouldn't. She got my respect. From that day forward, she always had a nice word for me. I appreciate what she gave to Claiborne schools, students, teachers, colleagues, and especially to me. That will never be forgotten.

Mrs. Jan was a wonderful educator and a great mentor to many teachers throughout Claiborne County. I will never forget one of my favorite memories of her when we were raising money for Ellen Myers Relay for Life team. Jan, Tiffany Wolfe, and I were out putting plastic flamingos in yards as a fun fundraiser. We laughed more that night sneaking into teachers, friends, and family's yards to place those flamingos. Mrs. Jan was always willing to help teachers, students, and anyone in the community that needed or wanted her help. I am very sadden to hear of her passing. My prayers and thoughts are with her family.

I am so sorry for the loss of an educator, co-worker, and great friend. I will forever be grateful for her hard work and dedication to the students and teachers of our county. My son (Jace) is in 8th grade had Ms Jan in kindergarten and to this day says she is one of his favorites and loved her dearly and she loved him in return. One of the biggest Lady Vol fans I have ever met in my life. She will be greatly missed! With love from the Bailey Bunch!
