Robert Bob Parkey

Robert Joseph ”Bob" Parkey age 73 of Gibson Station, Virginia, left this life to meet Jesus on July 15, 2017 with his loved ones by his side. He was a great lover of family, community and a most loyal friend. Bob was a teacher, mentor and humble public servant. Bob wanted to help young people succeed through hard work. He spent his time and resources in fulfilling this purpose, providing the same mentoring and encouragement he received from his grandfather and uncle. Even 50 years later recipients of his assistance would return latter to thank him “one more time”. Bob was always the “favorite uncle”, a magnet to children everywhere and he instinctively knew he understood them and loved them. As an avid outdoorsman, Bob kept a Labrador retriever by his side, always believing he would meet not only his family and friends but his dogs again in Heaven. Survived by his devoted wife of 47 years: Nancy Smith Parkey; Son: Joe Parkey of Knoxville Tn; adoring and special family: Barbara , Mary Helen, Patricia and Shannon; many other nieces and nephews, family and friends. Bob was loved and was loving. To be missed by many and forgotten by few. The family will receive friends from 4:30 pm-7:30pm Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Harrogate United Methodist Church with funeral service to follow. Rev.
