Allen Banks

Haughton, LA – A Graveside service to celebrate the life of Allen D. Banks will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Allen “Beechnut” Banks was born in Plain Dealing, LA on May 15, 1934. He worked for East Texas Motorfreight and Steve Thompson Trucking as a diesel mechanic for many years. He enjoyed going to cattle auctions and drinking coffee. He loved animals, especially dogs and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Jewel Banks; brothers, J.D. Banks and James Banks and sister, Pauline Ainsworth.

Allen is survived by his sons, Richard Banks and Tracy Banks and his wife Christy; daughters, Mary and Jewel; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Sue Williams and Patricia Smith and husband Tim and brother, David Banks as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime girlfriend, Michelle Moriarty.

My brother Allen was a special person. He gave me a chew of his beechnut when I was about 10, needless to say I got sick as a dog.
Of course, he thought it was funny. I still loved my brother.
