Alton was born on February 5, 1928 in Sylacauga, Alabama, one of 9 children. A WWII veteran, he served in the Navy on the USS Cimarron. He then attended photography school prior to joining the Air Force, where he received decorations for his photography work, retiring in 1969.
Alton was a hard-working, honest and loyal man. He believed in doing things the right way and was a blueprint to the way one should live their life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert W. McDougal and Martha Powell McDougal; daughter, Sherilyn Park; son, Alton Lee McDougal; grandson, Brandon Montelbano; son-in-law, John Pinckard; brothers, Ranceford, Benny, and Jimmy and sisters, Alice Wood and Joyce Gardner.
Alton is survived by the love of his life of almost 70 years, Bonifaye Luther McDougal; daughters, Marsha Pinckard, Nina Stratton and husband Gary, Teresa Boone, Laura Phillips and husband Hutch; 15 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren; brother, Harold McDougal; sisters Ann Jaeger and Nell Phillippe.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Pastor Don Francis officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, January 8, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
