February 12, 1944 – July 19, 2025
Marjorie Ann Miller Lewis, known by all as Ann, age 81, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 19, 2025, surrounded by family and love.
Born on February 12, 1944, in Carthage, Texas, to Virginia Wyatt Miller Sharp and Emery Miller, Ann spent most of her life in Louisiana but was a true Texan at heart. In Louisiana, she and her husband of 62 years, the late Bobby Wayne Lewis, built a life defined by family, creativity, and care.
Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, raising three children—Rick Lewis, Rob Lewis, and Laura Lewis Nelson—with love and unwavering dedication. She was primarily a homemaker during their younger years, creating a warm and welcoming home where creativity and constant learning flourished. She was a proud grandmother to Chandler Britt Nelson Beard and Meredith Blair Nelson Spillers, and a doting great-grandmother to Lucy, Judah, Lincoln, and Margot.
A woman of remarkable talent and industriousness, Ann was a master quilter who belonged to quilting guilds and won numerous quilting contests over the years. Her stitches told stories, wrapped her family in comfort, and amazed fellow artisans. She was also an avid gardener who cultivated both beauty and bounty - her flowers brightened the landscape, and her vegetables nourished the family.
Ann’s creativity didn’t stop at quilts and gardens. She was a skilled craftsman who helped design and build the beautiful log home she and Bobby shared in their later years. Her legacy is stitched and hand-fashioned into the fabric and structures of her family and rooted in the soil she lovingly tended.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bobby, her parents, her brothers James Miller, and Sam Miller and his wife, Cindy, her nephew Damon Miller and her sister-in-law Angela. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her siblings Stanley Miller, Mike Miller, and Elaine Miller Weaver along with their ever-growing families.
Ann will be remembered for her strength, her steady presence, her boundless creativity, and the deep love she gave and created for her family.
A memorial service for Ann will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to a charity of your choice.
