Barrie Nicole “BB” Stephenson, 62, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away on October 9, 2026, in Shreveport, Louisiana, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends.
Born on June 22, 1964, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Barrie grew up in Elm Grove and graduated from Parkway High School. She continued her education at Louisiana Tech University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, an accomplishment that reflected the determination and work ethic she carried throughout her life. She went on to build a successful career as a Clinical Trials Monitor, working hard and traveling often to provide for the family she loved so dearly.
Barrie shared nearly 43 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Tommy Stephenson, whom she met on a blind date that turned into a lifetime together. Through the years, they built a family that became the center of her world and her greatest source of pride.
To know BB was to love her, and to know her well was to appreciate her spunky personality, quick wit, compassionate heart, and unmistakable attitude. She was loving, stubborn, outspoken, generous, and fiercely loyal. She had a story for every occasion, an opinion she wasn’t afraid to share, and a side-eye that could say more than words ever could. Beneath that spirited personality was a woman with an enormous heart who made it her mission to ensure everyone around her felt happy, included, and loved.
Barrie loved traveling, cruising, shopping, and celebrating life’s special moments. She especially loved Mardi Gras and the friendships and memories she made through her involvement with the Krewe of Gemini, Krewe of Barkus & Meow, and Krewe of Elders. She proudly served as Duchess of Louisiana for the Krewe of Gemini in 2019, Duchess of Furry Friends for the Krewe of Barkus & Meow, and Queen of the Krewe of Elders in 2025. Her appearance as Queen was an unforgettable moment and a fitting celebration of a woman who knew how to make an entrance and enjoy every minute of it.
As much as she loved a good celebration, nothing brought Barrie greater happiness than her family. Holidays, family gatherings, and any excuse to bring everyone together were among her favorite occasions. Her green bean casserole was a family favorite, and her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She had a gift for spoiling those she loved and never hesitated to put their happiness and needs ahead of her own.
Her love extended just as deeply to her beloved dogs, Oliver George and Bella, who were far more than pets. They were her babies, cherished members of the family who brought her endless companionship and joy. Anyone who knew BB understood just how much those two meant to her and how completely they were loved and spoiled.
Barrie taught her children the importance of hard work, that nothing in life comes free, and that determination can carry you through life’s challenges. Above all, she taught them to believe that somehow, things would work out. One of her favorite sayings, “Everything’s gonna be alright,” was more than just words. It was the reassurance she offered those she loved and a reflection of the strength and optimism with which she approached life.
Even through her final challenges, Barrie showed the same fighting spirit and determination that had always defined her. She faced life’s difficulties with courage, strength, and the stubborn resolve that those closest to her knew so well. Her family takes comfort in their Christian faith and the promise that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.
Barrie is survived by her loving husband, Tommy Stephenson; her children, T.C. Stephenson, Allyson Stephenson and her wife, Christy, and Jacob Stephenson and his fiancée, Brittany Owens; and her cherished grandchildren, Ragan, Leah, Lucy, Lane, Lacey, Trenton, Christian, Jonah, and Rebecca. She is also survived by her sisters, Holly, Carla, Linda, Shana, Tara, and Missy; her brother, Tim; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by Carla Gilmartin, Clinton Sturdivant, Bobby Stephenson, Janet Stephenson, and Wayne Stephenson.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Christina and Kenny Loftin, Yolanda, Jessica, and the dedicated staff of CHRISTUS Highland Hospital and St. Joseph Hospice for the compassion, care, and kindness shown to Barrie and her family during her final days. Their love and support will never be forgotten.
BB will be remembered for her laughter, her stories, her loyalty, her unmistakable side-eye, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her family will miss her conversations, her advice, her opinions, and the comfort of knowing she was always there.
Her greatest legacy will not be found in the titles she held or the accomplishments she earned, but in the family she raised, the friendships she treasured, and the countless lives she touched along the way.
And whenever life gets difficult, those who loved her will carry her words with them: “Everything’s gonna be alright.”
A visitation will begin at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 16, 2026 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm.
