Ben Stewart

SHREVEPORT, LA – A celebration of life service for Ben A. Stewart, 58, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Cypress Baptist Church in Benton, Louisiana. Brother Billy Pierce will be officiating the service.

Ben went to be with his heavenly father on Monday, January 21, 2013 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. He was of the Baptist faith and was affiliated with Christian Athletes while attending Louisiana Tech and the University of Arkansas. Ben was employed in the gaming business 18 years, with the last being at Boomtown Casino. He loved playing sports, including racket ball and running daily with his faithful friend, “Jackson” the dog.

Ben was predeceased by his parents Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Stewart, father-in-law Robert M. Hawn Sr., and stepson Michael Fargerson.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Linda Fargerson Stewart; stepson Tim Kirkpatrick and fiancee’ Tracy Cochreham; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Rhiannon and Trevor Kirkpatrick of LaJunta, Colo.; mother-in-law Dorothy Hawn of Haughton, La.; cousins, Miriam Stewart of Rocky Mount, La., Larry Stewart and wife Brenda of Shreveport, La., Liz Morace and family of Haughton, La., and a host of other family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and nurses of Shreveport-Bossier Hospice, also Ron Nierman and cancer support group at Fiest-Weiller Cancer Center, also Dr. Syed Jafri of Feist Weiller Cancer Center.
