Berry Denver Huckabee

PRINCETON, LA – Services will be held for Berry Denver Huckabee at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends for visitation on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Denver was born July 30, 1928 in Hope, AR to Jack and Grace Starnes Huckabee. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served on the USS Fechteler until February 26, 1948. He also served an additional 5 years in the Navy Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1953. Denver married Willie Schaffer Huckabee on January 29, 1954. He went on to get his commercial pilots license on October 11, 1954.

In December 1954, he began working with Dr. Louis Breffeilh at the Shreveport Eye Clinic as a Licensed Optician and ocularist. His youngest patient was less than 1 year old. He retired in March of 1998 after 34 years.

He was a charter member of Airline Church of Christ in 1960 and went on to help establish the Eastwood Church of Christ, March 1988 in Haughton, LA. He served as an Elder from 1996 to 2002.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Willie with three daughters, Debra, Donna, Denise and one son, David Huckabee his brother, Terry Huckabee and wife Johnni and two nieces and one nephew.
