Berteel Pope Lattier

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Berteel was born October 26, 1921 in Lena, Mississippi and passed away on January 8, 2014 at 92 years of age. She moved from Lena to Bossier City, Louisiana and was employed at J.C. Penney’s in Shreve City. She retired after 40 years of service when the store moved to Pierre Bossier Mall.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking and just sitting on her back porch watching the martins. Her greatest love was bass fishing which she was able to do until recently. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spoiling them. She often cooked a separate dinner just for them!

She was preceded in death by her mother, Birdie Pope; her son, Randy Lattier; and her daughters, Janis Widmer and Susie Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Loraine Carson; daughter- in- law, Dorothy Lattier; son- in- law, Freddie Mack Widmer, Sr.; along with 4 grandchildren, Freddie Widmer, Jr., Jere Smith, Jr., Laurie Young, and Lisa Hyde and 3 great grandchildren, Macy Poe, Ben Smith, and Madison Widmer.

The family will have a visitation on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from noon until time of service at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Hill Crest Memorial Park, Haughton, LA.
