Betty Gay Shepherd Beauregard, born November 19, 1936, in Brownfield, Texas, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a lengthy illness, but was made whole again on September 1, 2022. She was the second daughter to Otha O. Shepherd and Avris Parker Shepherd, who predeceased her, along with her siblings, Joan Rhodes, Eleanor Ruth Pilkinton and Ronnie Shepherd.
Betty graduated from Benton High School, where she played basketball (1/2 court). After graduation she then married her high school sweetheart Tilman (Bubba) Beauregard of 63 years until his passing in November, 2018.
Of this marriage three children were born, Dixie Beauregard Callahan, Kathy Beauregard Harvey (husband Jimmy), and William (Billy) Beauregard (wife Sarah). She was also predeceased by her great grandson, Gavin Brown.
Betty worked for 32 years for the Bossier Parish Clerk of Court, where she was an outstanding Deputy under Wilna Mabry, Joan Carraway and Cindy Johnston until her retirement in 1997.
She spent a lot of time with her grandchildren Jennifer Brown, Holly Brown, Brandon Strickland, Cari Beth McGray, Amber Beauregard and Zane Beauregard. Her great grandchildren grew up at Mamaw and Papaw’s house outside of Benton enjoying the woods, trails, dogs, horses and watching deer graze in the “right of way”. Those include Brianna, Kendall, Carolena, Carmen, Gavin and Carter. Little Sylis Beauregard joined her family of greats in August, 2021. Two great-great grandsons round out the host of kids, Jayden and Kacen.
“Mamaw” was known as the best cook of Thanksgiving dinner, hamburgers and allowed the kids to eat what they wanted at breakfast or anytime, especially ice cream. She rarely said “No” to them, thus making her their favorite for sure.
The family would like to thank the 3rd floor nursing staff at WK Bossier and her favorite, Dr. Royal Becker, who cared for her greatly over the last month of her life.
You may visit the family one hour prior to Betty’s service on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 10:00 until 11:00 am. Her Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
