Betty Joan Newberry

BOSSIER CITY, LA – Services for Betty Joan Newberry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Fream and Rev. Tommy Patton officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Betty was a loving wife, wonderful mother and caring grandmother. She was a longtime member of Cypress Baptist Church in Benton and she loved her church. Watching nature became a hobby, birds and flowers were among her favorites. Betty retired from Walgreens after 30 years to stay home and take care of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bill Newberry, sons Richard Newberry, Robert Newberry and wife Annette, and David Newberry, daughter Stefani Jenkins, grandchildren Christina Jenkins, Cori Jenkins, Ashleigh Newberry-Mills, Matthew Newberry and wife Bailey and Michael Newberry and great grandson Treyson Mills.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions made in Betty’s name to Shriner’s Children Hospital in Shreveport or the Cypress Baptist Building Fund.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rick Michael, Dr. Bob Martin and Amedisys Hospice for the care they have shown.
