Betty J. Rogers

Betty grew up in Smackover where she met and married the love of her life, Catorce Dean Rogers (Tossie) on May 14, 1954. They were married 71 years and spent many of those years traveling overseas as Tossie was serving in the United States Army and Air Force. When Tossie retired, they enjoyed traveling in their RV with trips to Alaska, serving as state park camp hosts and spending half the year camping in Why, Arizona. While in Arizona, Ajo First Assembly of God became their church home and the congregation became their second family. Wherever they were, they made lifelong friends.

As a devoted homemaker, Betty loved her family and found joy in cooking, sewing and raising four children. Her children all agree, she was the best mother anyone could ask for.

Betty loved singing for the Lord in the choir at Broadmoor Assembly of God (Gateway Church) and serving in the kitchen cooking for youth events and potlucks. She retired from Bossier Schools after spending several years in the cafeteria at Sun City Elementary.

Betty was preceded in death by all her siblings, brothers; Ray Hays and Dale Hays and sisters; Mary Hays Burks and Glenda Hays Tunnell. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Catorce Dean Rogers; children, Sam Rogers and wife Tammy, Randy Rogers and wife Anna, Lawana Short and husband Scott, Mykl Rogers and fiancee Morgan; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Hill Crest in Haughton, Louisiana from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services are Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11:00 am at Gateway Church, Shreveport. Officiating for Betty will be Pastors Scott Holmes and David Logan.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tyler, Chase, Richard and Ryan Rogers, Cap Haney and Robert White. Honorary pallbearer, David Hays.
