Billie Dean Kulbeth Piper, mother, grandma, great-grandma, and U. S. Army wife went to be with the Lord, January 16, 2021 following a long journey battling age-related dementia. Mrs. Piper was 90 years of age.
Billie Piper was born January 9, 1931 in Wilmar, Arkansas to Bonnie Gene Mann Kulbeth and Alva Lee “Joe” Kulbeth. She dearly loved her Mom and Daddy. She so looked forward to joining them someday. And now she has.
She married her sweetheart Ralph Piper after he came home from World War II and she would live as a military wife for the next sixteen years. In Massachusetts, in Florida, in France, in Germany, Texas, and Louisiana she cared for her husband and their three sons in a very busy and loving household. She lovingly prepared three meals a day for a house full of men and boys. Her husband and boys would testify that she was a magnificent cook. Her extended family and friends would travel many miles to dine at her table. Her biscuits and her desserts were legendary! She was enduring, determined, loved to laugh, prided herself on her appearance, and was hopelessly devoted to her family.
She always loved animals. During her many years as a dog breeder she raised championship dogs…mostly her beloved chihuahuas, but also Pekingese, Pomeranians, Dalmatians, and poodles. Billie Piper brought joy to literally thousands of Ark-La-Texans with dogs she raised and sold to them. For nearly 40 years she was the “chihuahua lady” of Princeton.
She also worked for Touchstone Taxidermy in Haughton for many years.
Billie and MSgt Ralph Piper were married in 1949 and cherished each other for 61 years until his passing in 2011. Their three sons are: Reverend Don Piper and his wife Eva of Pasadena, Texas; Alan Piper and his companion Cindy McBride of Doyline, Louisiana; and Steve Piper of Princeton, Louisiana. Billie Piper was grandmother to five grand-children, Nicole, Chris, Joe, Nicholas, and Joshua. And she was great-grandmother to five: Carlee, Will, Penny, Pressley, and Lochlan. Mom, grandma, great-grandma, Billie was loved dearly by us all! And we all knew that she loved us.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Chateau at Montclair of Shreveport for the compassionate care of the ladies for Mrs. Piper, and also Heart of Hospice. We are deeply indebted to Cindy McBride for her thoughtful loving care of Billie over the years.
Billie Piper was a long-time member of Fillmore Baptist Church in Princeton. She and her mom, Bonnie would be faithful to their church until Bonnie’s passing in 1994 and Billie’s move to memory care.
A funeral service will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel in Haughton, on Thursday, January 21 at 2PM. In observance of Covid, the service will be lived-streamed on the Hill Crest Facebook page. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
Billie Piper is now with Ralph, Bonnie and Joe, her Grandma and Grandpa Mann, and her sister Nell, and so many others who have gone before her, absent from the body and present with the Lord. Though her memory dimmed in her waning days, now she remembers forever. And we will never forget her.
Oh, to have another of Mama’s biscuits.
Someday!
