Born and raised in Many, Louisiana, Bob was the seventh of nine children. He joined the United States Air Force as a young man and served in the Korean War. Afterwards, he graduated from Northwestern State University with a B.S. in Sociology. Bob utilized his degree by working for the state of Louisiana, from where he eventually retired. Additionally, he co-founded and developed a rental property business for over 45 years. Bob instilled a tremendous value for education in both his children and his grandchildren. He encouraged and supported each and every one of them in achieving and succeeding. He was so proud of them!
Beloved husband, Dad, Pappy and friend, Bob loved to bring a smile to everyone's face or even better make everyone laugh, with a joke (or two or three...). He also delighted in sharing the faithfulness of God throughout his life. He was an active member of Brookwood Baptist and Eastwood Baptist after moving to Bossier City. Bob was happily married to Nancy for 35 years. They enjoyed traveling to many places, especially Branson, Missouri, discovering it to be one of their favorite places. Bob was very passionate about sports. He was known to be an Independence Bowl devotee, an LSU and a Saints fan. He demonstrated his passion for sports on many levels, starting in high school by playing football and basketball, a fact that made him a lifelong Many Tiger, cheering them on to football state championships at the Dome. Bob even participated in military sport during his service time. As an adult, he played softball and officiated both softball and baseball for 25 years for the ASA.
Bob was proud and thankful to be an American. He never took for granted our rights or the privilege to vote. Over the years he supported many patriotic and veteran causes. In his later years, Bob enjoyed serving for the Bossier Sheriff Posse.
Bob joins in Heaven his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Daniel Johnson; five brothers; three sisters; his first wife of sixteen years, Rema (Norris) Johnson; and twin granddaughters, Olivia and Caroline Whitman.
