Bobby served in the Louisiana Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve. During his military service, he also worked at the LA Army Ammunition Plant, as a munitions engineer.
In 1965, Bob "Skee" Rumby was hired as a Electrical Engineer to open the new Western Electric Plant in Shreveport, LA. He Retired in 1989 and enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing and camping, with his family and AT&T buddies.
He was a long time member of Summer Grove Baptist Church, Ducks Unlimited, LA Sheriff's Association, NRA and was loved on/ministered to, by the Benton UMC Souper Saturday Senior Ministry.
Bobby is preceded in death by: his parents, John L. Rumby and Izella Smith; wife, Jonel Rumby; and grandson, Jonathan Rumby.
He is survived by: his children, daughter Sheila Wood and husband Chuck of Stallsworth, NC, son Greg Rumby and wife Sherry of Minden, LA, daughter Robin Nichols and husband Terry, of Benton, LA, and son Ryan Rumby and wife Tina, of Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren; Morgan Wood, Amy Wood, Genny Hasty, Kadie Jones, Trey Nichols, Zachary Rumby; and his 8 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Skee will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial, Haughton, Louisiana, with the funeral following at 2:00 PM. A committal service will occur at 3:00 PM, within the Hill Crest Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are: Carter Hasty , Irwin Jones , Jacob Hasty, Trey Nichols and Brain Teutsch.
Honorary pallbearers are: Zachary Rumby , Morgan Wood and Guy "Fuzzy" Bradford.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all who cared for Dad: Dr. Will Maranto and the staff of Bossier Family Medicine; his loving sitter, Deborah Dawson; and Lawanda Chism of LTC.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in his honor be made to, the Alzheimer's Association, Ducks Unlimited, Benton UMC Souper Saturday Senior Outreach, and/or the LA Sheriffs Association.
