Brenda was a 1971 graduate of Airline High School where she met Jeff, the love of her life. They married in 1973 and have spent the last 54 years together living in the Shreveport/Bossier area. Brenda completed her nursing degree from Northwestern State University in 1973. Brenda worked at Confederate Memorial, and Schumpert Hospital as a hospital nurse. She was also a school nurse with the Caddo Parish School system from 1992 until she retired in 2003. Brenda continued working with her husband, Jeff, and her son Justin, in the Oil and Gas industry until her death.
Nanny was loved by everyone. She loved playing Bunco with her ladies. She loved her grandchildren, anything to do with the lake, shopping, and her flowers. She loved taking family vacations to the beach, even though Dad didn’t, he went. Nanny was a frequent shopper at the Canton First Monday Trade Days and was known to come home with a carload of “stuff” which she would hide from Jeff.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Graham; mothers, Lucile Reid and Shirley Graham; brothers, Billy Reid and Gary Dillon; sister-in-law, Margaret Dillon, and niece, Melissa Dillon Foster.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Jeff Hicks; children and spouses, Melissa and James Mericle, Justin and Jessica Hicks, Lindsey and Adam Hone and Bonnie and Nick McDonnell; grandchildren, Evan, Eli, Stella, Hudson, Maddie, River, Leif, Talon, Beau, Deacon, Brady, and Nash; sisters, Glenda, Debbie, and Christy; and brothers, David, Bill and Leslie.
The family would like to say thanks to Christus Hospice especially Lisa and Susan for their compassion and support. We appreciate Karen Dubroc for her loving care to both Brenda and family.
A visitation for Brenda will be held Monday, February 21, 2022 from 2pm-3pm at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel in Haughton, LA followed by the funeral service at 3pm.
