Burl was one of seven brothers and sisters and five half-brothers. They grew up working the land and growing their own food on a peach orchard, where he learned the value of hard work. He spent most of his time working. When he wasn’t working, he was thinking about what he was working on, or the next project he would be starting. He did take occasional time out for fishing and hunting. He had a deep affection for horses and the cowboy way and was instrumental in establishing team roping in this area.
Burl began his working career as a pipeline welder, but with an entrepreneurial spirit deeply embedded in him, quickly became self-employed and thus began a lifelong journey of inventing, scheming, building and creating a history of businesses; some wildly successful, some not so much.
He invented the Cookin’ Cajun Smoker, built a beautiful mobile home park from the ground up that became Pecan Valley Estates. Together with his daughters and their families, he built Le Cheval Arenas, an equestrian facility in Bossier City. The facility eventually became Park ‘N Place RV and Boat Storage and is still operational today under the management of his youngest daughter.
Burl "Pawpaw" leaves behind a legacy of grit, determination and hard work, a love for his family and an appreciation of the outdoors and the cowboy way.
The family would like to thank the staff, doctors and precious nurses at Willis Knighton North for taking such good care of him in his final days.
Burl joins in Heaven his parents Lake and Edna Boswell. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Julie Lynn Boswell and Jackie Leigh Patterson (Greg Patterson); grandchildren J. Brandon Booker (Halie), Noah M. Scogin, and Sydni Leigh Patterson; and great grandchildren Annilyn G. Booker, Elijah M. Booker and Samuel T.
