She met the love of her life in Marlow, Oklahoma on the steps of the Post Office. Troy whistled at her when she walked by. They were married in August of 1963. Carolyn became a military wife and they travelled all across the country with the Air Force. They had two boys, Troy and Michael. The family’s last assignment was at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana in 1978. In 1986, Troy retired from the service and they decided to make Bossier City their permanent home.
Carolyn completed her nursing degree at Northwestern State University and began her career as a night shift, intensive care nurse where she touched many lives and made life long friends.
Carolyn and Troy made Airline Drive Church of Christ their home also. She dedicated her life to the service of others through Missions, Outreach, and through her beloved Ladies Bible Class.
After 81 years of service to the Lord, 60 years of marriage to Troy, 55 years of motherhood, 29 years of Nana-Hood and 3 years of Great Nana-Hood, Carolyn passed away peacefully surrounded by those who love her and will never forget her.
Carolyn was survived by her husband Troy, sons Troy and Michael, daughters in laws, Danielle and Brandi , grandchildren, Taylor, Bailey, Ethan, and Baylie and great granddaughter Charlie Kay Boyd.
Christmas was Carolyn’s favorite time of the year. (Big understatement!) In lieu of flowers, Please consider blessing a child at Christmas time.
A visitation for Carolyn will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 from 11:00 AM until time of Celebration at 12:00 PM in the sanctuary of Airline Drive Church of Christ, 2125 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana 71111 with Bro. Ben Brewster and Bro. Jim McDoniel officiating.
