
He was born February 14th, 1933 in Mount Holly, Arkansas where he grew up and where at age 17, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Korean War and was awarded the Silver Star for valor in combat.
In 1954, after serving in Korea, Catorce married Betty Jean Hays of Smackover, Arkansas. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air force and together as a military family, they served stateside and overseas for 20 years. Upon military retirement, he worked 20 years as a civil service employee (Civil Engineering) at Barksdale Air Force Base.
Tossie loved the outdoors, so at this time of his life, it was not unusual to find him in the woods, hunting or fishing, every chance he had. When Tossie fully retired, he and Betty enjoyed traveling in their RV serving as state park camp hosts and spending winters in Ajo, Arizona.
Wherever they were, they made lifelong friends. Catorce and Betty were faithful, longtime members of Broadmoor Assembly of God (Gateway Church) serving there for over 50 years.
Tossie was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 71 years, Betty Rogers, his mother Ruby Rogers Smith, his brother Raphial Brossett Rogers and sister Louwana C. Rogers.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Sam Rogers and wife Tammy, Randy Rogers and wife Anna, Lawana Short and husband Scott, Mykl Rogers and fiancee Morgan; 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Hillcrest in Haughton, Louisiana from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are Tuesday, May 19th, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest. Officiating for Catorce will be Pastor Scott Holmes and Pastor David Logan.
Master Sergeant Rogers will be buried with military honors.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Shane Short, Tyler, Chase, Richard and Ryan Rogers; and nephew, David Hays.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the third-floor staff of Willis Knighton North and the Carpenter House for their wonderful and compassionate care of our Pops.
