At his request, a private viewing for family members will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana. A graveside service open to all will follow at the adjacent Hill Crest Memorial Park on Wednesday, January 21, at 2: 00 PM.
Mr. Lowe was born November 25, 1922, in Grant Parish, to the late Alfred and Florence (Chelette) Lowe.
Cecil was extremely gifted in several trades and was blessed to be in good health and be able to work hard for over eight decades. He was an excellent automobile mechanic and also an accomplished carpenter and house painter. He was always willing to help and support his family and neighbors. He loved to visit family and friends in and outside of Louisiana. When he decided on a destination, he’d get his Atlas down and map out a route many would consider to be “too slow” or “the long way;” but he was more interested in exploring new sights and travelling the “road less travelled.”
Mr. Lowe served in the United States Army during World War II and was assigned to a Search Light Detachment. He spent most of his service in and around the Hawaiian Islands. After the war, Mr. Lowe returned to Grant Parish and married Marie O’Neal February 14, 1946. Until Marie’s passing in August 2002, they were married over 56 years.
He is survived by his sister Audrey Chelette of Colfax, La: son Kenneth Lowe and his wife Dianna of Snow Hill, NC; son Robert Lowe and his wife Polly of Dubberly, La.; daughter Debbie Luna of Bossier City, La.; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; several great grandchildren; as well as his loving and caring companion Arlene Pruett of Heflin, La. Also surviving is a special cousin who was loved by Cecil as a son, Morris Chelette of Colfax, La. He was also preceded in death by his sister Eathel Lowe and his brother, Rodney Van Cleave.
