Charles “Pat” Defee, beloved father of four children, son, brother, coach and friend, passed away April 23, 2021 at the age of 50.

Pat was born on October 30, 1970 in Monroe, Louisiana. He was raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, and graduated from Southwood High School in 1988. In his youth, Pat loved Hot Wheels racecars, making art and writing, volunteering in church, and playing tee ball and baseball. In high school, he was a member of Southwood’s baseball team. He carried a strong love for baseball and softball for the remainder of his life, playing with, coaching and inspiring many athletes along the way, including his daughters. Pat absolutely adored cheering his girls on at their games, sharing love for all kinds of sports and hobbies with each of them, and participating in long-distance running with them for years. He completed eight marathons and numerous half-marathons in his running career.

Pat was a Supervisor for United Parcel Services. He joined UPS at the age of 18, and continued his dedicated work with the company for 32 years. He was an extremely hard worker, and he took pride in being productive and contributing to successful operations. He spent a lot of his time instilling his strong work ethic, motivation and drive into his children.

Pat is survived and lovingly remembered by: his daughters; parents, Robert Defee and Donna Defee; grandmother, Joy Defee; uncles, Jon Defee, Charles Patton, and Robert Patton; aunt, Cathy Patton; nieces, Mallory and Ella Sterner, and many cousins and friends. He is reunited with his sister, Mary Defee Sterner, and his former father-in-law, Mel Phillips.

Pat’s life was fully dedicated, above all else, to his four daughters: Megan Nicole Defee, 23, Erin Lindsey Defee, 20, Ava Grayse Defee, 14, and Dylan Alexis Defee, 13. They were the center of his world, and he very openly regarded them as such. He loved his girls tremendously and unconditionally, and was extremely proud of them. Raising four daughters is not an easy task by any means, but Pat was an expert at it. Pat was actively involved in every sport, hobby, activity, and interest that the girls participated in. He was an encouraging, devoted, and dependable father.

Pat was known as a great and honorable man. He was remarkably intelligent, incredibly kind, protective of the people he loved, and a true leader. He extended open arms and love to everyone; Pat never met a stranger. He was a trustworthy, compassionate, loyal and honest friend and coach to a multitude of people. I worked with Pat for 30 years and we became friends. I ate lunch with him, almost daily, for years and rarely did a meal pass without his daughters entering the conversation. The pride he had for his girls was wonderful to see. I hope that they can find a little peace in knowing the amount of love he had for them. It was truly heart warming to see.
Pat was my friend and I miss him deeply. Rest easy.

To Pats family, Pat was my son Jerry Valentines friend..Pat hung out at our house with others. I always called him Big Foot cause of his feet. He always had a hug for me anytime we met whether in grocery store or at gas pump. He loved his family.. He will definitely be missed. Keeping everyone in prayers in the coming days ahead.

When I think of Pat, I think of laughter (he made fun of me 24/7 when we were together back in the day)Oh did we laugh! In recent years when I spoke to him it was always about our kids. This man loved his kids. I don’t know that I have ever met a more proud dad. Because of Pat, I will live everyday to be the very best dad I can be.. just like he did. I love you brother.
