Visitation for Mr. Claude H. Dilts will be held on September 2, 2020 at 6:00 pm, at Hill Crest Funeral Home, Haughton, La. Celebration of Life for Mr. Claude (Sluggo) H. Dilts, age 85, will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 10:00 am at Hill Crest Funeral Home, 601 Highway 80 Haughton, LA, with Mr. Dick Mosher officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery, Haughton, LA.
Mr. Dilts was born on November 5, 1934 to Blanche Jane Ader and George Howard Dilts in Longvalley, New Jersey and passed away August 27, 2020 in Shreveport, LA after a long, hard battle with pancreatic cancer. He grew up in Longvalley, New Jersey, and moved to Bossier City/Haughton, LA area after joining the Air Force. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, (deer, turkey, squirrel), enjoyed fishing, loved gardening, especially with the kids, watching Nascar, and loved being around his family most of all.
With almost 40 years service, as a boiler attendant, he retired from Byrd and Sons Roofing. He also worked around 19 years doing maintenance for Lake Pierremont Community. He was an Airman 1st Class in the Air Force and in the Air Force Reserves out of Bossier Base, now known as Barksdale Air Force Base. He is remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle.
Mr. Dilts is survived by his brother, Harry Dilts, of Tennessee; sisters, Helen Corrigan and Dorothy Beam, both of New Jersey; two daughters, Debra Jayne Stiles and husband Scoot, and Mary Dawn Dilts, both of Bossier City, LA.; two sons, Jerry Griffith and David Lussier, both of Haughton, LA.; nine grandchildren, Jeremy Griffith, Rachel Sandrovich husband Josh, Samuel Griffith, Joshua Griffith, CaSondra Lussier, Wesley Dilts wife Lisa, Amanda Bourque husband Jeremy, Brian Doss wife Cheryl; great-grandchildren, Hollis Sandrovich, Dean Sandrovich, Briar Sandrovich, Awston Lussier, Miah Vanmeter, Logan Vanmeter, Summer Lussier, Blake Smith, Colton Bourque, Piper Dilts, Abbygail Doss, Ace Doss, Aaron Griffith, and Kyle Short. Also a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who held a special place in his heart.
Mr. Dilts was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise; 2 brothers, Donald and Georgie Dilts; and a grandson, Chris Lussier.
Pallbearers will be Brian Doss, Jeremy Griffith, Wesley Dilts, Blake Smith, Joshua Griffith, and Josh Sandrovich.
