CMSgt, USAF John F. Nix, Jr. (Ret.)

John F. Nix Jr., retired CMSgt, beloved father and grandfather went home to Heaven on August 11, 2015. Born in Waverly, Tennessee on November 25, 1930 to the late John F. Nix Sr. and Tishie (Mathews) Nix. John was raised in the Mathews Hollow of Waverly. He joined the United States Air Force in 1948, and would spend the next 27 years serving in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. John received many awards and commendations during this time that also include the prestigious Bronze Star; John retired as a Chief Master Sergeant, and was a very proud Veteran.

John was preceded in death by his parents, in 2005 by his wife Delwyn Nix, who was the love of his life; he is survived by his children, Sharon Murphy and husband Chuck, of Belleville, IL, Debbie Robertson and husband Warren of Patoka, IL, and Robert Nix and wife Lori, of Edgar Springs, MO; step-children, Craig Small and wife Kim, of Haughton, LA, Melissa Walls and husband Whitney, of Bossier City, LA, and Lori Johnson and husband Michael, of Haughton, LA; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and host of extended family and friends. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather whose family was the light of his life.

Funeral services for John Nix, Jr. will be held Monday, August 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel in Haughton, LA. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, LA.
