December 30th, 1952- May 19th 2026
Colleen was born on December 30th, 1952 in Odessa, Tx to Billy and Frances Barefield and passed from this life and into the arms of Jesus on May 19th, 2026.
Colleen graduated from Southwood High School in Shreveport, La in 1971. She went on to attend several colleges including Northeast, Southern University and Grambling. She pursued several different careers but ultimately ended college at Grambling State University obtaining her Masters degree in Social Work. Colleen worked for child welfare and family division and loved being able to help children have safe and stable homes. She was also involved in helping with the CASA department. She also fostered several children throughout her life.
Colleen moved around a lot in her younger years with her parents and two brothers, Bubba and Curtis to many places including California, Wyoming, Texas and Louisiana.
Colleen met Keith Goodman and they were married in Aug of 1989. They started their lives together in Bossier City, La then moved to Sibley, La, where they spent their time raising their children and running a successful business for several years. They moved back to Bossier City, La in 2010. They have been married for 38 years and have enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Colleen enjoyed going to the boat and was ready to go on a dime. Of course, she had the luck of the Irish and would “hit it big”. She also loved playing cards with her “Friday Night Floozies”. They had many long nights and enjoyed their many get-away trips full of laughs, jokes and entertainment.
She had a passion for crafting and loved spending time making numerous jewelries, keepsake memories books and prayer boxes. She loved attending farmers markets and meeting new people along the way. No one will forget her homemade yeast and cinnamon rolls. There would be a line and you always hoped you were in front of the line.
Her greatest accomplishment in life was her two boys, Ty and Wade. Through all the years, laughs and tears, arguing over who’s right and wrong, or who was getting the last word in, they always knew she was just a call away.
Colleen lived her life for her husband, Keith, two boys and Grandchildren. She couldn’t wait for the grandchildren to show up. They usually would get whatever they wanted eventually. She cherished all the hugs, kisses, laughter and tears. She would always encourage them in all things but would lay down the law when needed. They were always on the road going skating, bowling, watching movies and late-night bingo. She even taught them to play poker.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Frances Barefield. She was survived by her Husband Keith, Brothers Curtis and wife Sarah Barefield of West Point, MS, Bubba and wife Karen Barefield of Downsville, La, Two sons, Ty Wood and Cheralyn both of Bossier City, La, Wade and wife Wendi of Sibley, La, and three grandchildren, Kynlee, Kase and Charlotte.
