

BOSSIER CITY, LA – William “Dale” Coleman, 75, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 08, 2016. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Hill Crest Funeral Home with burial to follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Dale was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on May 26, 1941. He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School. He married Pam Pennewell on September 1, 1987. Dale began calf roping at a very early age and competed in LA high school rodeos, winning LA State Champion Calf Roper. Upon graduation from high school, he attended McNeese State College and joined the rodeo team. It was during his first year of college that he began riding bulls. He was a member of the original LRCA Board of Directors in 1960. During these years he served as a role model and mentor to numerous young cowboys. Dale was just inducted into the LRCA Hall of Fame. Dale later began to work with race horses starting as a trainer and a jockey. He moved up those ranks and just this year was named Person of the Year at LA Downs as a steward.
Dale is survived by his wife, Pam Coleman, his mother, Juanita Coleman, children, Dawn, Shawn, Chris, Cordell, Jody (Frank), Donna (Donnie), grandchildren, Joseph, Jack, Cole, Will, Laney, Ethan, Erica, sister, Brenda Weaver (Jimmy), nephew, Blayne.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the many friends and family that have surrounded Dale and Pam with love during this year and half battle with mesothelioma, He fought a hard battle. Thanks also go out to his doctors and staff: Drs. Ted Warren, Washburn, Shuler, McDonald, M.D. Anderson doctors and staff and Shari, Donna, and Juanita with Aime Hospice Care.
Honoring Dale as pallbearers will be,Terry Magee,Rick Brashear,H. B. Johnson,Tim Murrell,Jackie Maroney, and Marilyn Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be;Roy Wood, Dennie Sidener, Val Murrell, Mario Torres, Mike Duplissy, Dick Pollock, Larry Craft, and Steve Rowe.
