Danna Prothro Hendrix

Danna Melton Prothro Hendrix was born in Pleasant Hill, LA to parents Margaret Shingleton Prothro and Rev. H. Melton Prothro, Jr. on July 3, 1957. She passed away May 22, 2026 in Shreveport, LA due to complications of kidney disease.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil Hendrix, son Victor Hendrix, sister Debby Bozeman, and nephew Cory Bozeman.

She is survived by her daughter Monique (Louis) Welch, sister Daphne (Mike) Ritter, and brother Drew (Gina) Prothro, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, life-long friend Sharon Ramsey Newsom, and many friends.

Danna was a member of the 1975 graduating class of Haughton High School and always proud to be a Buccaneer. She worked in the medical field most of her career, ending with caring for patients as a home health sitter. She loved music and singing from an early age. She was in the youth choir and a trio with friends as a teenager and sang at many friends’ weddings. She also loved laughing and having fun, online shopping, asking questions, and studying her Bible. She had a caring heart, always checking on church members, family, and friends who might be under the weather. Danna accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a child. For the last few years, Danna was active in the Thursday morning ladies Bible study at FBCH and loved all the ladies in that group. Though she had many health issues, she kept pushing on, never giving in to them.

Visitation for friends and family will be at First Baptist Church of Haughton on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with the service beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial at Haughton Cemetery will follow immediately afterwards. Officiating at Danna’s celebration of life service are childhood friends Dr. Bill Britt and Michael Keith.

Honoring her as pallbearers are Drew Prothro, Louis Welch, Drew Prothro, Jr., Jason Farrington, Mason Lopez, and Caden Lopez.
