Diana, affectionately known as “Nonie” by those closest to her, was born on June 9, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to James and Roberta Tennis. She was raised in Independence, Missouri.
Nonie was small in stature but mighty in spirit. She was sweet when she wanted to be, stubborn when she needed to be, and always just a little bit feisty, which was exactly how we loved her. She lived life on her own terms and made sure those around her knew exactly where she stood and how much she loved them, especially her five grandchildren who she loved more than words could describe.
A proud and passionate fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, she rarely missed a game and could yell at the TV louder than any coach on the field. Her love for her family was just as fierce. She never let you leave her house hungry, and always left a lipstick stain on your cheek when kissing you goodbye.
Diana enjoyed all of her years spent working in accounting until she retired. During retirement, her days were spent doing her favorite things which included reading, working puzzles, meeting friends and family for dinner, and traveling to see her California family.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Diana is survived by her sisters, Sally Parr of Corona, CA, and Gloria Tennis, of MO; brother, Leslie Tennis, of Miller, MO; son, Greg Baird and wife Rhonda, of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Kelly Dennie and husband Rob, of Benton, LA; grandchildren, Kaylee Baird, Landon Baird, Addison Baird, Emma Kate Dennie and Coleman Dennie; nieces, Janna Parr of Riverside, CA, and Julie Muenzer and husband Mike, of Lake Elsinore, CA; as well as extended family members and dear friends all of whom held a special place in her heart.
A celebration of Diana’s life will be held on July 9th, 2025. Family will receive friends for a visitation at 10:00am, in the stateroom at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 11:00am.
