Diane was born on April 17, 1939, in Chicago, IL to Robert Frederick and Lorainne Sampson Hoffman. She was baptized into the Christian faith on June 11, 1939, and Confirmed on April 6, 1952 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chicago, IL. She attended Luther North High School where she met and fell in love with Sig, who would become her husband on August 6, 1960. During their 65 years of marriage, they lived in Sheboygan, WI, Greenville, IL, and settled in 1968 and remained in Bossier City, LA. There they raised and nurtured four children, and are the proud grandparents of 8, and 5 great grandchildren. During these years, Diane became a Registered Nurse and retired from Bossier Medical Center and then worked in Home Health. As a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and wife of a pastor, her faith and personal relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, remained her foundation and focus throughout her life.
She enjoyed sewing, making her children’s clothing, playing musical instruments like the guitar, piano, bells, recorder, and even the autoharp, all of which she did in Praise to God. She enjoyed animals, reading, vacations, studying and teaching God’s Word, but her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved husband, children and family, and close friends.
Diane’s life included seasons of challenge, particularly in her later years, which she carried with endurance. She will be remembered by her kindness, her faith in Christ, her love for husband and family.
